Just in case you want a working horse ranch, iconic actor Robert Redford is selling his — the 30-acre Horse Whisper Ranch, named for his 1998 movie “The Horse Whisperer.”

Redford bought the Utah property in 1996 as a winter grazing area and home for many of his beloved horses. It also served as a base for his family’s horse program and running clinics.

Pictured are some of Robert Redford’s beloved horses, which do not go with the sale of this property. Instead, they will be moved to another of his ranches nearby.

Windermere Utah’s Jaisa Bishop has the $4.9 million listing, which just published Monday, June 14. It’s co-listed with Compass’s Steve Mavromihalis.

Seattle-based Windermere Real Estate, the largest regional real estate company in the western United States, is no stranger to listing properties of high-profile people including sports figures, entertainers, celebrity chefs and business leaders, in the Seattle area and in Las Vegas, Sun Valley, Southern California and elsewhere. The company would not disclose specific names, as most clients like this ask for non-disclosure.

The company now has more than 300 offices and 6,500 agents in 10 states and Mexico. Last year, Windermere closed more than 74,000 home sales for a total of over $41 billion in sales, compared to 77,000 homes in 2019 with total sales of $36 billion.

The Redford property offers seven buildings, including a modest, two-bedroom, 1,460-square-foot farmhouse. Other structures include a 2,000-square-foot wood shop, horse stalls, wood shed, 3,200-square-foot garden hobby house, garage and hay barns.

Located at the northern edge of Deer Creek Reservoir and the Provo River, the property has views of Mount Timpanogos and is 15 minutes from Sundance Mountain Resort, the ski and resort community Redford started in the late ’60s and sold last December.

Word is Redford is selling the Horse Whisper Ranch to focus on expanding his ranch at Sundance in the nearby Provo Canyon.
