Pacific Union to Sponsor Leukemia & Lymphoma Regatta
June 22, 2016
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Greater Bay Area Chapter will be hosting its Pacific Union Leukemia Cup Regatta on October 22-23, 2016 at The San Francisco Yacht Club (SFYC) in Belvedere, Calif. The Leukemia Cup Regatta VIP Dinner will take place on October 22 with special guest speaker Ethan Zohn, former American professional soccer player, CBS Survivor: Africa winner, blood cancer survivor and philanthropist. The event will then continue on October 23 with the Pacific Union Leukemia Cup Regatta competition and festivities. Celebrating its 11th year, the Bay Area event has raised over $6.2 million since 2006 to support LLS’s mission to find a cure for blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.
This year the Bay Area’s leading luxury real estate brokerage, Pacific Union Real Estate, will serve as the Title Sponsor of the Leukemia Cup Regatta. With the support of Pacific Union, sailors from around the Bay Area will be able to raise more than sails to honor local blood cancer patients and survivors, recognized as honorary skippers, and sailors of all levels are encouraged to fundraise, participate and attend the two-day event. This year’s honorary skippers include Douglas Holmes, Drake Jensen, Steve Johnson, Chris Kostanecki, Rhett Krawitt, Brit Lacey, Chris Laub, Campbell Nolan, Bernard O’Driscoll, Lynn Spiller and Robert Wilson. This year’s campaign kicked off on April 28, 2016 at the SFYC with guest speaker Dr. Mignon Loh, Pediatric Oncologist and Researcher with UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.
