San Francisco House with Gargoyles Asks $16 Million

Mark Roos is the third generation of his family to live in this San Francisco home designed by architect Bernard Maybeck. The house was a wedding present from his great-grandfather to his grandmother, Elizabeth Leslie Roos, who got married in 1906 when she was 19. “As far as we can tell, Maybeck was not the first architect hired, but she didn’t like the first architect’s design and insisted on Maybeck,’ says Mr. Roos.
