Extravagant and secluded, a 10-acre gated estate designed by a renown Beverly Hills architect — with a carriage house, tennis house, expansive auto-collectors garage and views of Northern California’s rolling hills — just hit the market for $19.8 million.

Brian Tichenor designed the mansion —located at 322 Lark Lane, Alamo — for the owners of a Bay Area financial technology company. The home sits along a ridge in the East Bay hills about a half-hour south of San Francisco, near Silicon Valley.

Dubbed Lark Ridge Retreat, the glamorous main residence spans 9,812 square feet with five bedrooms and nine baths and features resort amenities such as an outdoor kitchen and bar, pool, pool bath, steam room, 500-bottle wine cellar, tennis court, fountains, a dramatic lawn area and Mediterranean gardens.

“The estate expansively delivers on the couple’s goal of creating an exceptional home designed for today’s active, modern family in an idyllic suburban township,” according to a fact sheet on the property.

The estate has been the venue for many celebrations. The official listing focuses on the main residence’s floor plan that is “designed for a graceful indoor and outdoor lifestyle” and offers “grand-scale entertaining spaces, casual living areas, sitting rooms, private bedroom retreats, spa-like bathrooms, incredible closets, dual executive office spaces, gym, and media room.”

“Living at Lark is like being transported to the Italian countryside,” said owner Tracey Hirt, president of RPM Mortgage. “The sanctuary and privacy of living quietly while being less than one mile from town is simply a marvelous experience.”

A newly completed carriage house, totaling 917 square feet, provides a one-bedroom, one-bathroom home with full kitchen and laundry room over an expansive, secondary nine-stall garage ideal for showcasing a coveted auto collection.

Meanwhile, the tennis house, spanning 718 square feet, offers a one-bedroom/one-bathroom layout with a kitchenette for entertaining.

“It is rare to see an estate of this quality check all the boxes for today’s lifestyle,” Compass listing agent Dana Green said in a news release. “The dream of a flexible floor plan that accommodates an extended family, au pair, dual executives, and home fitness is realized, and the resort-like atmosphere for entertaining on an intimate or grand scale is icing on the cake for all ages,”

Impeccable detail went into creating the estate.

“Walls of Venetian plaster and gold produced by Italian artisans extend throughout the home,” according to the listing. “Premium materials include onyx, marble and burl with custom crystal chandeliers are used both in the formal areas of the home and the owners suite. This premiere bedroom features an antique French marble fireplace from the Plaza Hotel in New York and a Fortuny light fixture. Two thoughtfully planned and expansive dressing rooms in the suite offer storage for 200 handbags and 200 pairs of shoes, a lingerie island, and an area for tailoring.”

If working at home is a buyer’s thing, “the residence offers dual executive offices within the main house, as well,” the listing reads.
