Actor Robert Redford lists St. Helena estate for sale for $7.5 million

The wine country estate of Robert Redford and his wife, Sibylle Szaggars Redford, has been listed for sale for $7.5 million.

Located at 277 Via Monte in St. Helena, the gated property is located on 10 acres. It includes a main residence of 5,225 square feet, two garages, gym area, pool with hot tub and cabana and hiking trails with “direct path to Meadowood resort.”

The house has three bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms, wrote listing agents Steven Mavromihalis and Chuck Sawday of Pacific Union International.

Redford “wants to move closer to his family and grandchildren in another part of the Bay Area,” wrote a Pacific Union spokeswoman.

Known as Danza del Sol — Spanish for sun dance — Redford bought the home in 2004 from a trust.

According to the listing, Redford, 82, and his wife “have enjoyed Danza del Sol for more than a decade: Resting, rejuvenating, refreshing, resurrecting their spirits, and regaining their balance, whenever they needed to get away from it all.”

“This wine county retreat is a joy to behold,” said the listing.

Szaggars Redford is an artist, and the estate also includes an artist studio with large glass rolltop doors. The art studio also features an office space, kitchen area and bathroom.

Redford no doubt enjoys movies. The house includes a viewing room surrounded by bookshelves and a space for a large flat-screen TV.

It’s a “small slice of heaven in the Napa Valley,” said the listing.

Redford won the Academy Award for best director for “Ordinary People” in 1981. His most recent film is “The Old Man & the Gun,” which was released in September.
