A custom-designed, resort-style retreat outside San Francisco listed Friday for $19.8 million.
The gated compound, dubbed the Lark Ridge Retreat, sits on the ridgeline Alamo Mountains in Alamo, California, which is about 28 miles east of the city. The 10-acre site allows for far-reaching views of Mount Diablo and the valley beyond from several rooms in the home, including the bedrooms and a loggia set up for dining.
The main house was designed by Beverly Hills, California-based architect Brian Tichenor, according to Compass listing agent Dana Green. It features five bedrooms, six bathrooms and three half-bathrooms over 9,812 square feet, plus carriage and tennis houses with additional living space.
The home boasts bespoke details throughout, such as Venetian plaster, gold produced by Italian artisans and custom crystal chandeliers.
“Living at Lark is like being transported to the Italian countryside,” owner Tracey Hirt said in a statement. “The sanctuary and privacy of living quietly while being less than one mile from town is simply a marvelous experience.”
Ms. Hirt, the COO of the mortgage company LendUS, dba RPM Mortgage, purchased the estate in 2012 with her husband, Robert Hirt, who is the CEO of the firm. The price was $11.5 million, according to public records.
The design of the home incorporates an open-floor plan with the home’s spacious patios and decks, thus maximizing indoor-outdoor living. There are also dual office suites, a gourmet kitchen and a suite of reception areas, including a den with a fire and wet bar.
Upstairs, the master bedroom features an antique French marble fireplace from New York City’s Plaza Hotel in New York, as well as a Fortuny light fixture, the listing said. The attached dressing rooms have room for 200 handbags and 200 pairs of shoes, plus a lingerie island and tailoring space.
Other amenities include Mediterranean-style gardens, extensive lawns, a tennis court, an outdoor kitchen and bar, a fitness center and a 500-bottle wine cellar, plus a pool and spa area.
The main house also has a four-car garage, and there’s space for nine additional automobiles in the newly completed carriage house, according to the listing. In addition, the carriage house has one bedroom, a full kitchen and one-and-a-half bathrooms. The tennis house has another bedroom and bathroom and a kitchenette.
“It is rare to see an estate of this quality check all the boxes for today’s lifestyle,” Ms. Green said in a statement.
